From Zero to Frontend Hero: My Journey to Becoming a Frontend Developer During the Pandemic
July 21, 2024Introduction
In 2021, the world faced unique problems because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people felt unsure and saw their lives change. For me, Dev Patel, this time started an amazing trip into web development. This blog post tells the story of how I changed from knowing nothing to becoming a good frontend developer driven by my love for coding and not giving up.
The Beginning: Learning Online During a Pandemic
I signed up for a computer engineering diploma without knowing much about coding. We had to take all our first semester classes online, which was new for everyone because of the pandemic. Taking virtual classes and learning from home was hard in some ways, but it also let us learn at our own speed and try new things.
Finding My Calling: Building Static Web Pages
Everything started to shift in the second semester. We took a class on Static Web Page Design, which taught us the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This class lit a fire in me. I loved the idea of making something look good and work well from the ground up. I put in a ton of time to practice, try new things, and get better at these key web tools.
The Road to Mastery: Getting Better with Time
As I learned more, I saw how much was still out there to know. I dug deeper into HTML, CSS, and JavaScript working on small projects and always pushing myself to do better. I leaned on online resources how-to guides, and coding groups for help. lots of YouTube channels gave me great tips and tricks.
Diving into Cutting-Edge Tech: Next.js and More
Once I got the hang of the basics, I wanted to learn even more. I came across Next.js, a robust React framework that changed how I tackled web development. It blew my mind how easy it was to build dynamic, server-rendered apps. I threw myself into Next.js creating more intricate and engaging web applications.
It's Still Going On
